Start from the beginning
"Ural-375" - just one of them such units.
The decision to produce new models of cars waswas adopted by the Central Committee of the Communist Party back in 1958. As one of the main producers, the Ural Automobile Plant was chosen as the one. It is still located in Miass, near Chelyabinsk.

That very first experienced couple was supposed to besomething completely new. Strictly speaking, there was not much. Mainly because for machines with the marking name "Ural ZIS NAMI-375" details from ZILs were used. At least one of the samples was generally equipped with a cabin from the one hundred and thirtieth model.
In addition, the design was sufficientserious flaws, which did not allow to use them, as was originally intended. For example, the engine ("Ural-375") in these "concepts" was, to put it mildly, not good enough. The parts quickly worn out, there were always breakdowns. Incorrectly worked whole systems, such as clutch or brakes. In addition, the scheme was not developed - bridges, as the basis of any machine, were not sufficiently rigid. The latter led to serious problems. It should also be noted that the borrowed cab was not sufficiently resistant to vibration - in conditions of impassable terrain this could become a critical factor.
They, as usual, turned out to be Ural-375. The scheme of its design was almost identical to today's. Despite the fact that it was almost a year before the serial release, for 1959 this was a serious achievement. The party that had already left the assembly line was equipped with cabs of its own production.
In fact, the car "Ural-375"specifications are pretty good. Even for the trial series. In addition, according to the order from the then Ministry of Defense, some changes were made. For example, an awning was installed above the platform, as well as above the cab itself. Glass could be removed. All this was due to military needs.
After the above experiments by the managementcountry was approved the beginning of mass production. The first results could be seen in November 1960. Then the "Ural-375" for the first time seemed to people exactly as it is now.
The first few years were devoted to fieldtested. Up until 1963, all checks confirmed the aforementioned technical parameters. In fact, all the time even recommendations for improvement were made. Engineers doubted some details, because they focused on the fact that there were no errors.

Such a quantitative influx is very easy.explained by the fact that they were used literally everywhere. Indeed, it was difficult to find some more common truck. Not as big as some KrAZ models, it still could easily drive across rough terrain, carrying a lot of various cargoes.
"Ural-375": technical characteristics
The engine of this truck-all-terrain vehicle passed under the label "ZIL-375". The design is V-shaped, with eight cylinders. Power is quite high, at 180 horsepower.
We should also note the centralizedsystem for changing tire pressure. For trucks designed to drive over rough terrain, this is quite an important factor. The gearbox installed here is five-speed. Also, the machine was equipped with a dual-clutch.
Another thing to say about the transfer case system. The fact is that there were two versions. It was hard enough for the older to control, since the manual control of the lever rearranged the front axle in one of three positions - off and on. This is only two, but the latter could be with a locked or unlocked center differential. The new version, which was included in the design in 1965, assumed a simplified mechanism to a large extent. So, the bridge was constantly on, but the center differential was established as a planetary type, with asymmetrical locking.

What technical features does the Ural-375 have? They tell a lot about the car itself. But everything was far from perfect as it seems at first glance.
